We caught up with Velocity Frequent Flyer, the airline loyalty program of Virgin Australia and one of Australia’s largest loyalty programs, to learn more about the Velocity Store and how brands can connect with millions of engaged members across Australia.
With more than 300 Shop & Earn partners and growing member engagement, Velocity offers advertisers a powerful way to drive action by rewarding customers with Velocity Points across everyday shopping, travel, fashion, health and beauty, sports and outdoor, and more.

1. Could you introduce Velocity Frequent Flyer and tell us a little about the business and your mission?
Velocity Frequent Flyer is the airline loyalty program of Virgin Australia and one of Australia’s largest loyalty programs, with millions of members across the country. Free to join, Velocity helps members earn and use Points across travel and everyday spending, helping them get to their next holiday sooner.
Our focus is on giving members more ways to earn Velocity Points beyond flying and providing greater flexibility in how members use their Points. Over the last 12 months, we’ve seen double-digit growth in members earning, redeeming and engaging with the program.
2. As one of Australia’s most recognised loyalty platforms, what recent developments have been introduced to the program, and what makes Velocity’s audience different from other loyalty or rewards publishers in the market?
One of the biggest developments has been the launch of the new Velocity Store, giving members even more ways to earn and redeem Velocity Points in one convenient place with more than 300 Shop & Earn partners.
Velocity members over-index among high-net-worth, younger Australians, with our online shopper audience also highly engaged. We’ve also seen 29% year-on-year growth in total transaction value, with members spending more and shopping more often.
3. What types of brands or campaigns tend to perform best with Velocity, and why?
The strongest campaigns are those where Velocity genuinely adds value to the customer proposition. This works particularly well across everyday spending, fashion, health and beauty, sports and outdoor, and travel.
Offers that give members a clear reason to act, whether that’s bonus Points or a timely seasonal proposition, tend to perform best. Velocity Points add an extra layer of value for customers and help brands drive action without relying only on discounting, particularly around major retail moments like Black Friday, Christmas and Boxing Day.
4. If you could give advertisers one piece of advice before launching on Velocity, what would it be? What separates high-performing campaigns from the rest?
Think beyond the base offer and consider what gives members a genuine reason to choose your brand now. The best-performing campaigns tend to have a clear, compelling hook, whether that’s bonus Points or a relevant retail moment.
5. What made Commission Factory the right partner for launch, and what does that mean for advertisers?
Commission Factory was a great partner for launch because it gave us access to a broad range of merchants, giving members more choice and more ways to earn Velocity Points from day one.
They’ve also been a strong partner behind the scenes, with their publisher development team supporting integrations, technical questions, and troubleshooting. That support has been valuable in helping us build and launch the program smoothly.
6. What exciting developments, new features, or opportunities can advertisers look forward to over the next 12 months?
There’s a lot we’re looking forward to over the next 12 months. We’re continuing to evolve the Velocity Store, making it easier for members to discover brands, find relevant offers, and earn and redeem Points toward their next holiday.
We’re also relaunching our Shop & Earn Chrome extension, giving members another simple way to earn Velocity Points when shopping online.
We're also testing new campaign formats and experiences to better understand what resonates with members while creating new opportunities for advertisers to drive engagement and conversions.
